Chia Greek Yogurt -Yum!

We all get cravings for something tasty in the evening. Mostly we don’t actually need to eat anything but if you’ve had plenty of water, drunk a cup of tea or coffee, had a bath and done all other things to take your mind of the nibbles, then have a little bowl of Greek Yogurt which will hit the spot perfectly.

After about 8.30pm I’m always careful about what I reach for. I try not to eat carbohydrates or sugary fruits and try to stick with as much plain protein as possible. The reason for this is that sleep time is when the body either burns or stores fat. We want it to obviously burn fat but high blood sugar at night has been shown to decrease the human growth hormone which is the one that burns fat and builds muscle. So we need to keep sugars to a minimum before bed which means either not eating or eating only protein!

Therefore this little snack is perfect. Half a cup of plain fat free Greek yogurt provides 12g of protein, then add in half a teaspoon of chia seeds and about 3 half walnuts which amounts to a lovely 14g protein.

1 Serving

  • 1/2 cup fat free plain yogurt
  • 1/2 tsp chia seeds
  • 3 half walnuts broken up
  • Sprinkling of cinnamon
