Tasty Burgers!

It’s Barbeque Season but Barbeques do not need to be unhealthy. I actually think they are a great way of eating; alfresco dining, simple grilled meat accompanied by a lovely summer salad is pretty perfect!

I do however, enjoy a good beef burger! But store bought ones are so full of preservatives and rubbish, it’s so much better to make your own and they really are so easy. You can make a big batch, freeze them, then take out on BBQ day or cook them and freeze them for a quick easy dinner.

Makes 9 ‘1/4’ Pounder Burgers

  • 1Kg Extra Lean Minced/Ground Beef
  • 2 Small Onions
  • 2 Eggs
  • 1 Garlic Clove crushed
  • 2 Tsp Mustard Powder
  • 1 Tbsp Worcestershire Sauce
  • 1 Tbsp Thyme
  • Lots of Pepper
  1. Pre-heat oven to 350 and line a baking tray with foil. Spray with PAM or similar oil spray
  2. Chop up all onions and add to the food processor with the eggs, garlic, mustard, sauce and herbs
  3. Blend for a minute of soBeef Burger 2
  4. Remove from blender and form about 2 tablespoons into burger shapes. I use a Burger shaper which makes it a lot easierBeef Burger 3
  5. Place on baking sheet and bake for about 20 minutes turning half way. You can also BBQ or grill or freeze immediately to remove and cook at a later time
  6. A lovely way to serve them is in between two slices of Beef Tomatoes for a carb free dinner, or between a quarter of a lightly toasted wholewheat pita, stuffed with salad and mustard Beef Burger 4…..yum…..enjoy…x
